PORTLAND CENTER FOR THE ARTS

The Festival was centered under one roof in the glamorous Antoinette Hatfield Hall at the PORTLAND CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS. With its sumptuous state-of-the-art theatres, two bars, restaurant and plenty of comfortable spaces for hanging out, the PCPA is an ideal festival venue.

A local landmark, the PCPA is located in the heart of downtown Portland on SW Broadway at Main, within easy walking distance of many hotels, restaurants and great shops, including the famous Powell's Bookstore. One block to the west opposite the South Park Blocks is the Portland Art Museum. The beautiful Willamette River and Waterfront Park, which offers pleasant strolling and cycling, are just six blocks to the east.

DIRECTIONS BY BUS:

All Tri-Met buses destined for Portland City Center converge on the Transit Mall. Ask your bus driver to let you out on the Transit Mall at the stop nearest Main Street, then head west on Main to Broadway, which is one block north of 6th Street.

DIRECTIONS BY CAR:

PARKING:

There is no parking facility at the PCPA, however parking is available nearby:

  • The Heathman Hotel located at 1001 SW Broadway at Salmon has the closest parking lot, which offers a limited number of spaces at $12 per day ($24 overnight).
  • The city-owned Smart Park has garages approximately four blocks away (at 10th and Yamhill or at 4th and Yamhill) with a daily maximum of $9.
  • Parking is also offered at many privately owned garages, including the nearby City Center Parking (515 SW Salmon) and Ampco System Parking (1025 SW Sixth, between Main and Salmon).

The Northwest Film Center is a regional media arts resource and service organization founded to encourage the study and appreciation of the moving image arts, foster their artistic and professional excellence, and to help create a climate in which they may flourish.

The Center conducts a year-round program of foreign, classic, experimental and independent film screenings showcasing regional, national and international cinema and video art. Annual film festivals include the Portland International Film Festival, Northwest Film and Video Festival, Young People's Film & Video Festival and Portland Jewish Film Festival.

The Film Center's School of Film's year-round curriculum in filmmaking, video production, animation and screenwriting fea- tures classes and workshops emphasizing media aesthetics in a hands-on context. The Center's statewide Young Filmmakers Program places professional media makers in school and community group settings throughout Oregon for both long and short-term production residence programs.

Since its founding in 1909, Pacific Northwest College of Art has continued to evolve into a leader in innovative educational programming that connects students to a global perspective in the visual arts. Small class sizes, strong mentor relationships with faculty and an emphasis on studio-based learning guides PNCA's Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Communication De- sign, Illustration, Intermedia, General Fine Arts, Painting, Photography, Printmaking and Sculpture. In addition, the College offers a mentor-based MFA in Visual Studies that allows students to create a studio-centered curriculum to support their personal artistic vision. PNCA has the oldest continuously running community arts education program in the Northwest serv- ing over 2000 people a year through Continuing Education. Located in an award-winning campus in the heart of the Pearl district, PNCA is actively involved in Portland's cultural programming through exhibitions and a vibrant public program of lectures and visiting artists from around the world. The Portland Art Center is a nonprofit exhibition space and resource center for the contemporary arts. Its mission is to cul- tivate informative and innovative interactions between the art world and the public. Portland Art Center serves as a support network and information hub for the contemporary arts in Portland, Oregon and the Northwest. Their dynamic programming offers unique opportunities to contemporary artists whose work is outside the commercial gallery system.
